MT500
- The MT500's basic design started in Italy and was put into production with the Armstrong/CCM company in 1984
- Harley Davidson engineered the MT500 with hopes of acquiring military contracts with the US armed forces
- The majority were built to the same specification with twin jerry cans and a waterproof rifle case attached to the side of the bikes
- 355 US models were produced in 1999
- The model saw limited use in the middle east and was phased out in 2000
- The project was doomed from the start though because of the "diesel fuel only" guidelines (which were ignored) for logistical simplicity
