1927 Harley-Davidson JD Twin
  • The JD Twin targeted police and riders who wanted the ultimate in acceleration, speed, and power
  • A three speed hand shift gear box is driven by a foot operated multiplate dry clutch
  • The JD uses a roller bearing rear hub to carry the extra weight of the single and double side cars available with this model
  • The 74 ci (1213cc) twin used a standard single camshaft layout with an upgraded single unit electrical system
  • There was maximum riding comfort with an improved cushion seat, front fork springs, full balloon tires, and a low riding position
  • Later models (known as the JDH) used a twocam setup with roller rocker arms
