The RC45 is a full on race bike created by Honda Racing for homologation purposes for the Superbike World Championship
Only 200 were manufactured worldwide, and per AMA rules, 50 were imported into the United States, with about 20 going to private race teams
Like its predecessor, the RC30, the RC45 featured a liquidcooled V4 4 stroke engine with gear driven cams and a single sided swingarm
Unlike the RC30, the RC45 used a radical fuelinjection system (dubbed PGM FI for Programmable Fuel Injection) borrowed from the exotic ovalpiston NR750 using 46mm throttle bodies with a total of seven sensors to deal with the mixture control
In its peak race form, the RC45 made over 190hp, with some calling it the best superbike ever produced
