  • The Douglas was known for its horizontally opposed twin cylinder engine
  • In 1931 the Great Depression pushed Douglas into bankruptcy
  • Most 1932 and 1933 models were built using leftover inventory produced prior to their financial hardship
  • For 1932 models, Douglas started using dog breed names to expand its product line
  • The 500cc was the Bulldog and the 600cc example shown here is the Grayhound
  • This 600cc four speed is one of the first motorcycles equipped with a dry sump lubrication system
  • It is fitted with a Smiths speedometer, 3 authentic leather bags and large passenger's seat
