1928 Scott Flying Squirrel
  • The Scott Motorcycle Company produced the Flying Squirrel between 1926 and World War II
  • The 498cc two stroke watercooled twin was expensive, costing nearly twice that of a typical sporting four stroke
  • The unique water cooled circulation used a convection method known as thermosyphon to cool the engine
  • The bottom end was painted either green (for racing) or red (for the road) and featured a centrally positioned flywheel, twin inboard main bearings, overhung crankpins, and doors to access the engine internals
  • A redesigned three speed gearbox, multi plate clutch, and repositioned magneto were all significant improvements over earlier models
