1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
  • This is the motor that powered "The King of the Hill" ZR1 1990 Corvette
  • It remains the only official Corvette engine that was not built by Chevrolet
  • In March 1990 the Morrison Motorsports team using a 1989 Corvette powered by a production LT5 engine covered 4,221 miles in 24 hours averaging 175.88 mph at Fort Stockton, Texas. This effort shattered the previous record of 161.80 mph set back in 1940 by Mercedes Benz
  • It is an extremely complex all aluminum 4 valve engine built by Mercury Marine, designed by Lotus Engineering, and commissioned by GM specifically for the C4 Corvette
  • The specs: 350 cubic inches, 375 hp @ 5,800 rpm, with a 7,200 rpm redline (1990 thru 1992) and 405 hp @ 5,800 (1993 thru 1995)
