1942 Harley-Davidson XA (Army)
  • The XA was a flat twin, shaft drive motorcycle made specifically at the request of the US Army
  • The Army specifically wanted a shaft drive for durability and several other features that made the BMW R71 (1938 thru 41) so reliable, such as the boxer engine which reduced oil temperature
  • It is believed that only 1,016 XA's were produced
  • XA's were no longer needed by the time production began. The Army had decided that the Jeep would be the generalpurpose vehicle of choice
  • This is an older restoration using no known aftermarket parts and was part of the Burgin collection
