Chrysler FirePower 331 CI HEMI
  • The 331 ci Hemi, produced from 1951 to 1958 using hemispherical cylinder heads was credited with starting the horsepower wars that lasted into the early 1970s
  • Most Fire Power 331s used a two barrel carburetor and produced 180 hp with the exception of the 1955 Chrysler 300C which was equipped with dual Carter WCFB four barrel carbs and rated at 300 hp
  • The intake and exhaust valves lie on opposite sides of half moon combustion chambers in a cross flow design where the intake valve is closest to the intake manifold and the exhaust valve is closest to the exhaust manifold
  • This powerplant was the preferred power for many 1950s street rods, NASCAR, and drag racers
