Description

Triumph first introduced the Bonneville in 1959 to commemorate the company's record-breaking speed achievements. This bike was featured in the documentary movie “The Bonneville Project” and was prepared by Motorcycle Performance in Madison, Wisconsin. Success was not immediate (first attempt 2012) but in August of 2018 Team Terpstra completed two runs with rider Shane Brings for an average speed of 111.410 mph – a record. Designated the T120 for its claimed 120 top speed, it was capable of sub-14-second quarter mile times out of the box. The motor was “built to the rules allowances and had to be externally stock appearing but inside anything goes” including oversized valves, ported heads, Megacycle cams, and 11:1 compression Hepolite pistons. Sadly, the owner, Lew Terpstra, passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident during a ride with his beloved Slimey Cruds motorcycle club.
