E-Type XKE Series 1 4.2L

Description

Commonly referred to as a 4.2 Series 1 this 1966 Jaguar E-Type coupe combines all the pure aesthetics of the early cars (including covered headlamps) with comfort and performance features like triple SU carburetors alternator instead of generator negative-earth charging system reclining seats full-synchromesh transmission improved disc brakes electric cooling fan and early toggle switches. This results in perhaps the best-looking and driving combination of these legendary English sports cars.Often cited as one of the most beautiful cars ever made the example offered here wears handsome Midnight Blue livery just as the roadster admitted into the permanent design collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The interior is offset by impeccable red English hides from Suffolk & Turley a refinished mahogany steering wheel wool headliner polished switchgear and original Blaupunkt LMK radio. It wears its correct chrome knock-off Dunlop wire wheels with Michelin XWX tires.Sold when new to a Mr. James Angelucci of Norristown PA the car was formerly owned by renowned Jaguar expert Reginald Ray who restored the car to JCNA concours standards in 2004 at his shop Jaguar Restorations of Limerick PA. From there it was purchased by the owner of the Woodhouse Auto Group in Omaha NE and held in a private museum accumulating only 100 miles during that time. In 2012 the current owner acquired the vehicle accumulating less than 1900 miles over the last 8 years. The car has been recently serviced and tuned and is certainly one of the best driving Jaguars weve encountered.Of special note is the exceptional panel fit paint finish and soft trim which was recognized at its first show outing with a class win at the 2012 Road&Track Concours in Elkhart Lake WI. The car placed second only to a Pebble Beach-winning Ferrari TDF for Best of Show.Offered in impeccable condition with jack tool roll spare tire and Jaguar Heritage Certificate this award-winning Jaguar E-type coupe will not disappoint.
