Description

Relive the golden days of the Winston Cup Series with this exceptional 1976 Banjo Matthews chassis, originally purchased new by NASCAR legend Elmo Langley. This car is a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship of two of NASCAR's pivotal figures: Elmo Langley, a talented driver and owner who helped build NASCAR from the ground up, and Banjo Matthews, a renowned chassis builder whose work became the backbone of countless winning teams. Together, they embodied the heart and soul of the sport.

This chassis has been comprehensively restored to period-correct perfection by the artisans at Rhine Enterprises, who completed this painstaking project in the fall of 2019. No detail was overlooked in this meticulous restoration, and it was upgraded for road racing to honor its legacy and performance. With a dry sump 358ci Ford Cup motor featuring Yates C3 heads, a road race-style roller cam, Dailey Engineering billet sump pan, and Jones front drive setup with power steering, this machine is built to perform. The powertrain was expertly crafted by Collins Engine Works in Denver, NC, ensuring peak performance.

Driving components include a Tex T101A road race transmission, a full floater 9” rear axle with cambered snouts, and a 6-piston road race brake package for impeccable stopping power. It's outfitted for safety with a Childress steering column, Sweet QR hub, Butler Built 15” seat, Schroth belts, and a fire suppression system. With under 2 hours of run time, this car is essentially a brand-new example of a vintage NASCAR legend, crafted to be driven and to deliver thrilling, authentic road race experience.

Whether you're a collector or a driver, you'd be hard-pressed to find a finer example of a period-correct NASCAR ready to hit the track today.
